Updates
New Translated Matching report
The new Similarity Report experience now supports Translated Matching.
Translated matching is an optional service offered by Turnitin, which allows your students to submit content in a non-English language, whilst retaining the ability to match against our vast database of English language content.
Access requires administrators to enable Translated Matching in account settings, and instructors must enable it in assignment settings during assignment creation. With Translated Matching enabled, the new report experience will display the version of the report with the highest overall similarity percentage by default.
For more information, check out our instructor guide for using Translated Matching.
Explore other sources matched to the same text
Matched text is often found in more than one source across Turnitin’s search databases. For example, matched text that we detect may appear in another student paper, as well as online in one or more places.
To view a complete list of the sources that Turnitin matched to the text in a particular card, you can expand the View other sources section at the bottom of the source card. The expanded list is ordered from largest to smallest match, is interactive, and shows the sections of text that matched to each source.
This feature is available in the source cards while in the Sources view and the Show overlapping sources option is turned off. It is not available in the Match Groups view or when the Show overlapping sources option is enabled, as these views already display a full list of every matched source, including overlapping sources.
Accessibility improvements
We are continually striving to make the Similarity Report as accessible and inclusive as possible. This release includes updates to aria labels, focus areas, and alt text to ensure that using the new report is seamless for users who rely on keyboard navigation, screen readers, and other accessible experiences.

Update
The report now detects single quote marks
We are now able to recognize quotations indicated with single quote marks (‘...’), while continuing to ignore the use of apostrophes. Now, quotations with single quotes should be categorized appropriately in the Match Groups list and when using filters.

Updates
All new Sources list and functionality
In response to feedback, we have combined the Top Sources and All Sources views into one tab.
Now, selecting the Sources tab provides a list of sources matched to the document with the highest similarity for each match (previously the Top Sources list).
When multiple sources match the same text
To reveal overlapping sources matched to the same text, choose the match highlight in the submission or source in the list to open the card, and select View other sources at the bottom of a card:
To display individual cards for each matched source, including all sources matched to the same text (previously the All Sources list), select the Show overlapping sources option at the top of the Source list:

Updates
Highlights have a new look
To improve accessibility and readability of matched text, we updated the look and position of the source number for each highlighted match.
With this update, you should see source numbers for highlights in the left-hand side of the page. Plus, the icon representing the match group now appears with the source number for that matched text.
Before:
Now:
The source numbers and highlights are interactive. Clicking on a source number or highlight will open the source card for that match in the right-side panel. Inversely, select a source card in the right-side panel to quickly locate the matching text in the submission.
Thank you for sharing your feedback to help us create a better Similarity Report! Tell us what you think of the update in the feedback portal.

Bug Fixes
Full Source Text
The right-side panel would occasionally crash when selecting “View Full Source Text” from some source cards. This bug has been fixed. However, some extremely large sources may cause unnecessarily long loading times. If this occurs, we recommend visiting the source’s webpage by clicking the source url displayed in the source card.
Navigation
Source cards now close when navigating back to the Similarity view from another tab. When returning to the Similarity tab, the previously selected card displays at the top of the right-side panel.
Integrity Flags
Some users may have experienced the document crashing or disappearing when interacting with an Integrity Flag. This bug has been fixed.

Updates
Submission word count
Previously, the report did not include a word count for the entire submission. With this latest update, the page information toolbar at the bottom of the viewer now includes the total count of words detected in the submission.
Navigation improvements
Originally, when a user selected a highlighted match or opened a source card in the Similarity Report, navigated to another part of the report and then returned, the report would automatically scroll to the previously selected highlight in the document. For a less confusing experience, we’ve updated the report to close an open source card when navigating to a different part of the report, such as another tab or view.
Reordered highlight colors
Based on user feedback, we have reordered the colors for highlights in the Top Sources and All Sources so that the first highlight is always magenta. In the Top Sources and All Sources views, there are five highlight colors that repeat in the following order: magenta-purple-blue-green-cyan.
Bug Fix
AI Writing tab
We resolved a bug that was preventing the AI feature from loading for some users despite having the AI Writing tool enabled at their institution. With this release, the AI Writing tab loads consistently on every report for institutions that have enabled the new tool.
