Can my students use the student writing tool on their mobile device?
No. Currently, the student writing tool is only supported on a desktop or laptop.
Should I require my students to complete the entirety of the assignment in the student writing tool?
It is important to remind students that all writing, revision, and editing must be completed within the student writing space. If a student is completing work outside the writing tool, the tool will not be tracking the writing process and there is no way to submit the writing to generate the Writing Report. The report is generated from a student engaging in the process inside the platform.
What are the technical requirements to utilize the student writing tool?
In addition to the requirements regarding LTI 1.3, we recommend the use of Chrome browsers for the entire workflow, and internet connectivity is required while completing assignments.
For what types of assignments is the student writing tool best suited?
It is best suited for all types of writing assignments, including but not limited to essays, reflections, and research papers. However, we are also interested in learning from beta participants what assignment types they envision administering with the tool.
Will the student writing tool allow students to share their work with peers for a peer review process?
No, the student writing tool will not include a peer-to-peer collaboration functionality for the beta period. This is something we may look into at a later date but is not guaranteed to be a future feature of the student writing tool.
How will the student writing tool benefit my students?
Students can use the writing tool to showcase the originality of their assignment. Features like version history help instructors see how the content has evolved during the writing process.
Where can I find the End User License Agreement (EULA) and the Privacy Policy regarding the student writing tool?
A detailed privacy policy and consent form will be available in the product as part of the workflow. In order to use the new assignment, students and instructors will be required to agree to an EULA specific to this new tool.
